Beverly

Welcome to Beverly!

Beverly is a North Shore destination with recreation, shopping and dining options for all.

Beverly is about 26 miles north from Boston with great access to Route 128, five commuter rail stations, a golf course and airport, making the commute all that much easier.

A strong partnership between business, government and community coupled with a thriving downtown and many business hubs, attracts a wide range of businesses  and residents to Beverly.

Brief History
The area was originally known by its Indian name of Naumkeag and populated by the native Agawam tribe. European settlers arrived in 1626 and its name was changed to Salem, (Village of Peace).  It was not until 1894 that Beverly was incorporated as a city. The first ship commissioned for the US military-the armed schooner Hannah-was built here.  Both Marblehead and Beverly consider themselves the birthplace of the U.S.Navy.  Beverly later became known for its shoe making industry as the center of the United Shoe Machinery Corporation.  This site was later renovated becoming the present day Cummings Center, a business park with a diverse array of industries.

Population
39,502, as of the 2010 census
